my new playground

I joined www.fanStory.com because I wanted to improve my poetry and non-fiction writing. Wow - I'm overwhelmed by its awesomeness, lol. I'm also feeling fairly pleased about my work. They are VERY critical over there - and will, if they can find something, let you know what you should work on.

Thus far, I have three poems listed, and am ranked on the level of "professional". Whoah. Didn't expect that :-)

Here's one of my poems for any bored friends:

It's way awesome, dude ;-)

In all seriousness, they have a great system. People get points and "cents" for posting reviews of your work. You give them incentive by purchasing items (through the currency you acquire by reviewing others' works) that will give them more cents and points. So people WANT to comment - because they are rewarded for it, but they are also REALISTIC (not just ego-stroking) because the site is there to help you improve. So if there's anything that should be changed, they'll let you know.

And they've found plenty for me ;-)

I've really learned a lot for having joined just yesterday. You can post short stories and whole books (chapter by chapter) there, too. You should join!

I found it because I was looking for a dear friend's e-mail addy that I'd lost. I know she writes poetry online, and I know the beginning of her e-mail addy, so was looking it up and lo and behold she'd been to that site.

The cost is $5.95/mth. For me, it's totally worth it so far. I can't say enough!
