Parrot update--new cage!!
Nov. 18th, 2007 03:10 pmSophia got a huge spankin' used cage two or three weeks ago. It's MASSIVE! About 5 feet tall, 3 feet wide 2 feet deep. Gigantic--and she LOVES it! (Petey broke her old cage. I got this one on Craigslist for--are you sitting down?--$150!!!) Sophia's generally petrified of All Things New, but not this! As I put it together she jumped from perch to perch as if to say, "And I love this perch! And I love this perch! Oh, and I love this one too! And this will be where I eat. And this is my sleeping perch...!" She was absolutely ADORABLE!!! This cage is so huge she looks like a little bug in it. LOL.
J and I initially put it together wrong, so there was a big gap at the bottom where she could escape. Each day I'd put her in it, and some days she'd remember she could get out the bottom, some days she'd escape through the food dish (a little more work, but she could do it) and some days she'd forget she could escape at all and just stay in the whole day. My adorable, forgetful 'too girl.
On the days she'd escape she'd first go set Athie free too... And then she'd set Petey free, and before you knew it, Petey and Athie were vying over Soph's cage, while Soph (who'd been duly chased off) watched from the curtain rod. Poor Soph!
Anyway, this weekend J and I fixed ALL of the cages (b/c Athie could escape from his too, with or without Soph's help--it just took longer and Petey's is the same way). Petey's already broken the fixing we managed, so I'm looking at another cage--the same type as Soph's--for him. I found one on Craigslist for $150 and one for $200. I'm waiting for the $150 people to get back to me before confirming with the $200.
