Some quick updates before I return to the nauseating Bar questions...

Precious Moments with Sophia / Operation Zinc Removal
Sophia is my precious angel baby... I love her so much! She's doing pretty well, stops chewing feathers when on meds, when off turns phobic/hyper and chews. Next Thursday when I return from the Bar it will be Operation Zinc Removal in the Jen household.

Because I hardly see her anymore, our morning cuddles are pretty special. This morning as I was preening her she put her head against my chest, sighed, and fell asleep. It was sooo precious. She seemed so happy and peaceful, and of course, I just adore her. Each morning I try to give her 15-20 minutes of cuddles and then each evening all the parrots and I go on the patio to play. I only stay for about 5 minutes but they stay and play for a few hours.

Petey joins the Mob Squad
Petey's been with the rest of the crew for the past week or so. He's doing great without his mirror, and just loves Sophia so much. The first time they met she marched over to him, yanked his head down, and started preening! And there's a lot of work to do up there b/c he'd only used broken sticks before--and they aren't that effective! Last night Athie slept on a basket next to J b/c she's still upset with Petey... I went to check on Petey and Soph before bed... and he was sleeping just three inches away from her (instead of on the top of his basket). Very precious. :)

Petey and Athie (James decided on Athens for a boy name--thanks 3kitties for the Athenacious suggestion!) don't get along very well. He's quite territorial and tends to chase Athie all around. So Petey stays in his full-of-toys cage when unsupervised and Athie and Soph hang out. On the good side, Athie's totally stopped bullying Sophia, and has decided I'm a friend too, so has stopped nipping. But we still gotta work on that territorial stuff...

Ironic,,,
On the ironic side, I've been looking for a cage like Soph's for Petey (or, since he's in her cage, I guess for her). Funny enough, all the parrots prefer her cage over Athie's, even though it's not a true "parrot" cage, but rather a flight on a stand.

I'd been looking on Craigslist and Ebay, having consciously and firmly decided to spend $75 tops, hoping to find one like Soph's. Looking, looking... for several days... none.

All the ones on craigslist were parrot-ish and way more than I wanted to spend. Yesterday I checked again... someone posted their cage--the exact same one as Soph's--for **$75**!!! It was like the Universe took a little pause and said, "Here. A gift for you--exactly what you wanted!"

Of course, J is still smarting over the cost of acquiring Petey + several hundred dollar vet bill... and now I want a cage??? LOL. So I'm trying to use all my super-duper psychology-degree powers to get him to come up with the idea we should get it... I mean, I start working in less than two weeks!!

Petey and Sophia... Soph's preening Petey's head. He looks soooo happy!SophandPetey031_edited.jpg

"Oh, just there! Perfect! Yes!!!"

They get lots of showers because they love them so much... This is from last weekend when they were out on the patio together.

"Don't you dare come near me you wet bird!!! I'm DRY and intend to STAY THAT WAY!!" (Sophia, of course, is the dainty, small, very dry one.)
