Watching "Birdy Sitter" DVD while playing on their baskets yesterday. They were *enthralled*!



Sophie eats the leftovers of Athie's babyfood breakfast. I love how she picks everything up! She'll even use caps and cups as water scoops and drink out of them instead of drinking out of the dish! :D



Playtime on the bed a few weeks ago (when I wrote the letter to parrot re: not nipping each other or eating the cat. You can see Spinks in the corner of the bed).

i didn't know birds watched video!
there is a whole world of birds that i didn't know about.
i didn't even know they used baskets and played with cats.

We have what are called "big birds." Sophia, at 13 inches, is the smallest of the cockatoo family -- but also one of the smartest. (Intelligence just below that of the African Grey, roughly about a 5 year old child.)

Athena is an African Grey -- the "dolphins" and "gorillas" of the parrot kingdom. She can learn up to 1200+ words, and have "intelligent" (i.e., not mimicking) conversations!

They are our "children." We adore them!!

and i still can't get over the cat co-existing with the birds! amazing.

i love smart animals...they find a way to let you know that its YOU...not just the hand that feeds. So when they adore you...you really FEEL adored.

awww. my friend had birds, but she never blogs about them so i didn't know. I will make her blog more.
