Our fist class of students took the Bar Exam. We had a 100% passage rate. ;-) The averge for Florida schools is in the 80%ile. (Ok, only one student took it - she finished her work in 2.5 years...)
Our Dean grinned and said, "I can guarantee you this is the highest Bar passing rate in the country!"
Still, we did have the highest MPRE passing rate - 95%, and 26 students took that. The next highest was University of Miami at 90%. Yay us!!
Other things to brag about that have been in the news lately:
1. Even before it attained provisional ABA accreditation, it had enrolled a student body with credentials, as measured by LSAT score and undergraduate grade point average, that place it in the top half of the ten law schools in Florida.
2. In its first foray into national moot court competition, the Annual Weschler First Amendment Moot Court Competition, FIU won the runner‑up trophy. In its second competition, sponsored by the Florida Bar for all Florida law schools, a FIU moot court team captured the best brief award. (The professor in charge of Moot Court is trying to convince me to do it since I'm #2 in our legal writing class. I'd be tied with #1 but my brief was one page over limit, so I was docked .2)
