I'm bored now. This morning I was horribly sick. After that post I spent most of the rest of the day trying (unsuccessfully) to keep food down. Now I'm doing a bit better - still nauseous, but not sleeping. So I'm bored. I started reading more of Steve Jones's essays. This one's *great*:

A Faith I Left Behind

Christianity is far from being a monolithic religion. Just as light passes through a prism and displays a spectrum of colors, so faith in Christ has many forms. Some people see this as a weakness, a sign of disunity. For me, Christianity’s multitude of expressions is a thing to celebrate. It is a recognition that people are different. One form of the faith is not optimal for every person.

Go Steve!

I love his ideas on topics.  Naturally, I don't agree with them all, but I believe he cuts to the chase when he states that a single act of charity done in the name of Jesus means far more than understanding doctrine to a T.

Anyway, there's my recommendation for the day. Great reading.

But despite evangelicalism’s efforts to get everyone to “accept Christ,” it is an unspoken assumption that most people will not be saved. Most people will go to hell.

Just heard something very similar to this today at church. Or maybe it was Sunday school. Yes, I got roped into going to Sunday school and talk about uncomfortable. I hate it. Church I managed to tune out for the most part and from Sunday to Sunday it never changes, tho it always manages to irritate me. Thanks for posting the article.

And glad you're feeling better, luv.

I read this and many, though not all yet, of his other articles, and something about it bothered me, but I didn't have it nailed down in words until a couple of days ago. I can't find anywhere that he says one needs to trust in God or the leading of his Holy Spirit to interpret the proper meaning of scripture to you. Also Proverbs 3:5

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;"

I have yet to find where he recomends that one do this. Most of his accertations seemed to be based upon his logic. I need to read the rest of his articles to be certain.
