Last Night

Last night we rented The Last Samurai. James had seen it before but loved it so much he insisted I HAD to see it. (Bear in mind he's already downloaded the whole soundtrack and I've been listening to this wonderful score for a week now!)
What a movie. Sad, yes, but noble, full of honor, loyalty, beautiful landscapes. I never really understood honor until I saw the movie last night. It seems to be something that Westerners aren't incredibly interested in. At any rate, it is more than highly recommended to any Friends who have not yet seen it. I've put a pic of it as my background on my office computer and am listening to the music. I don't want to be a Samurai tho. I don't want to kill myself.
Although that leads us to another point... death. To us, it is the worst thing that can happen (usually), but to them, to die honorably is the greatest blessing of the gods. What an irony. I think, "Who would want to kill themselves???" Yet... For them, to know they died defending their honor or country or family is the noblest and most envious death imaginable. Honor. What a concept.
On a completely unrelated note...
Last night we got the rings!!! I drooled over mine until James took it away.
Me: What are you doing??
Him: Hiding the rings.
Me: WHY???
Him: Because I want to surprise you.
Me: Can't you surprise me tonight?
Him: No, then it wouldn't be a surprise. And don't expect to see them for a while.
Me: Can't you leave them out so I can play with them? ;-)
Him: No because you'll sneak them to work and wear them!
He knows me too well.
